FAQs
Is the Tactilite OK for my lower?
Yes. Unlike semi-automatic systems, the Tactilite's bolt-action puts little stress on the lower. The lower serves primarily as a housing for the trigger group. Like other bolt action rifles, the recoil drives down the stock.
What is the recoil like?
Many customers liken the recoil to a 3" magnum 12 ga. The actual free recoil energy is greater than that. For many users and applications, trading light weight for slightly more recoil is the right choice.
Is it difficult to adapt my lower to the Tactilite?
We provide simple directions and it should take you less than 5 minutes the first time you do it. Most customers eventually dedicate a lower to the Tactilite.
This ships straight to me? I don't need to use a gun dealer?
The Tactilite is a complete upper assembly, which is an accessory. This means that no license, background check or federal paperwork is required. We ship the Tactilite straight to you. State laws vary on the .50 BMG. Please familiarize yourself with relevant state laws and we strongly suggest that you abide.
Do you ship the .50 BMG Tactilite to California?
Yes. California has notably dopey rules for possessing a .50 BMG. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with those rules. If you comply, we are happy to ship a Tactilite in .50 BMG to you in California. For those who may not legally possess a .50 BMG in California, we offer the Tactilite in .416 Barrett.
Why not offer a complete rifle?
Buying an upper instead of a complete rifle is cheaper, easier and gives you a more flexible rifle platform. Complete rifles designed similarly to the Tactilite cost about $500 more than buying an upper alone. You can buy a quality complete AR-15 lower sells for $200 or less, and that lower can be used for many differently chambered AR-compatible uppers (anything from a .22 LR to a .50 BMG). So, by buying a Tactilite upper, a person saves about $300 and has a more flexibile platform. Finally, an upper can be shipped direct to you and does not require the time, hassle and cost of buying a complete rifle. So, the upper alone is less expensive, more flexible and less of a hassle.
